Tanks in World War 2


During the Second World War it was thought that Germany had the best tanks in the world.  However, over the last seventy years all countries have evolved in the development of their weaponry and machines and it is thought that they now only have the 6th best tank in the world. The tanks I will be talking to you about will be the IS tank and the Panther


The IS Tank was a series of heavy tanks made by the Soviet Union during World War II. It was named after the Soviet leader Joseph Stalin. They were made to counter the German 88mm guns because it had thick armour. It was used by The Soviet Union, China, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, DPRK, Egypt and Poland. It was used in different wars such as World War II, Hungarian Revolution of 1956, Six Day War, Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia and War in Donbas. It weighed 46 tonnes and was 9.9 meters long, 3.09 meters wide and 2.73 meters tall. It only fitted four crew members in it.

Panther tank

The Panther was a German medium tank used during World War II on the Eastern and Western Fronts in Europe crew vulnerable. from mid-1943 to the end of WW2 in 1945. It was used alongside the latter and the heavier Tiger I until the end of the war. It is easily one of the best tanks of World War II for its excellent firepower and protection but its reliability wasn’t impressive as they broke down a lot and that made the These tanks were used by Nazi Germany, Kingdom of Hungary, Kingdom of Romania, Soviet Union, France and the United Kingdom in World War II. About 6000 were made costing about 117100 Reichmarks (£46,331.93) it weighed 44.8 tonnes and was 8.68 meters long with the gun facing forwards. It had 5 crew members, driver, radio-operator/hull machine gunner, commander, gunner and loader.
